Kale is another member of the Brassica genus handled by Hitchcock Farms, along with broccoli and Brussels sprouts.
The vegetable came to the U.S. by way of Russian traders in Canada in the early 19th century. Today, kale is popular because of its dietary value. Kale has been found to contain a group of resins known as bile acid sequestrants, which have been shown to lower cholesterol and decrease absorption of dietary fat.
Upon arrival at our cooling facility, the kale cartons are quickly and efficiently injected with liquid ice, which helps maintain the freshness and temperature of the product, ensuring quality and shelf life.
