The leek is a hardy plant that is related to the onion and garlic. Used primarily for flavor in soups and other dishes, the plant can also be eaten raw. Boiling will soften the leeks and turn the flavor mild.
The leek has been a symbol of Wales for a long time, Shakespeare even mentioning the vegetable in his play, Henry V, calling the Welsh practice of wearing a leek an “ancient tradition”. We think that eating leeks is preferable to wearing them!
Our leeks are quickly cooled by means of liquid ice, which is injected into the cartons at our state-of-the-art cooling facility.
